Morr F from India: is it legit, how people abroad order it, and how it compares with Rogaine

If you read r/tressless or HairLossTalk you have seen "Morr F" or "that Indian minoxidil with finasteride" come up. I am Ali, I live in India, and I used Morr F 5% twice a day from 30 November 2019 until mid 2026, and I am still on a plain minoxidil solution. This post is for readers in the US, UK, Canada and Australia who want to know whether it is real, what it costs, how people abroad get it, and the catches.

This is personal experience plus public information I looked up in October 2026, not medical or legal advice.

Is Morr F a real product?

Yes. Morr F is made by Intas Pharmaceuticals, a privately held company in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, and one of India's largest drug makers: about ₹24,100 crore (roughly US$2.5 billion) revenue in 2025-26 and 22 plants, per Wikipedia. Its London subsidiary Accord Healthcare sells generics in the UK and North America. India's regulator, the CDSCO, approves every new fixed-dose combination, and its published list includes "Minoxidil IP 5% + Finasteride IP 0.1% lipid solution for topical application" for androgenic alopecia in males, approved in early 2014. It is a licensed product sold at most chemists (pharmacies) here.

The Intas FDA record, since people will ask

Search "Intas FDA" and you will find two 2023 warning letters about an export plant complex at Sanand, near Ahmedabad, that makes injectables and tablets: torn-up quality records, an analyst pouring acetic acid over test slips, falsified inspection counts. Both sites went on FDA Import Alert 66-40. It is not obviously relevant to Morr F, made for the Indian market, but you should know.

The Morr F range

Morr F 5% is 5% w/v minoxidil plus 0.1% w/v finasteride in a lipid-based alcohol solution, 60 ml, spray pump. Morr F 3% and 10% change the minoxidil strength; Morr F Aqua+ 5% is alcohol-free in a propylene glycol base; plain Morr and Morr Max are minoxidil only. Finasteride is Schedule H (prescription-only) in India, but enforcement at the counter is loose.

Does the finasteride in it matter?

0.1% w/v is 1 mg of finasteride per ml. At 1 ml morning and night I put 2 mg on my scalp daily, double a Propecia pill. How much gets through the skin is the question. The evidence, most trusted last:

  • The Intas trial (Sheikh et al., J Clin Exp Dermatol Res, 2015): 102 Indian men, Morr F against plain 5% minoxidil; investigators rated 64.7% improved against 25.5%. Run by the company that sells it.
  • A Bangalore clinic series (Chandrashekar et al., Indian Dermatology Online Journal, 2015): 50 men on the pill for two years swapped it for a 5% minoxidil + 0.1% finasteride topical; 84% of the 45 who stayed on it held their density. Closest to what I did.
  • The best-run study (Piraccini et al., JEADV, 2022): 458 men, a 0.25% finasteride spray against placebo and 1 mg oral, 24 weeks. Hair count gains matched oral (20.2 versus 21.1). Peak blood finasteride was over 100 times lower than the pill, yet serum DHT still fell 34.6% against 55.6%, from only 0.11 to 0.46 mg a day, a fraction of my 2 mg.

The FDA's April 2025 alert on compounded topical finasteride says: "Absorption of finasteride through the skin into the bloodstream is expected." It cited 32 adverse event reports from 2019 to 2024 (erectile dysfunction, low libido, depression, anxiety, brain fog), most persisting after stopping. So the finasteride matters both ways: probably why Morr F does more for me than minoxidil alone, and why "only topical" is not a free pass.

What it costs next to Rogaine, Kirkland, Regaine, Hims and Keeps

Indian medicines carry a printed maximum retail price (MRP). A 60 ml Morr F 5% shows an MRP of ₹725 to ₹850 depending on the batch, roughly $8 to $9 or £6 to £7 at about ₹96 to the dollar and ₹128 to the pound, and lasts me a month.

How people abroad actually order it

I have never shipped a bottle anywhere. This is what r/tressless, HairLossTalk and Hair Restoration Network users describe, 2016 to 2026:

  • eBay and Amazon marketplace sellers posting from India. A 2019 HairLossTalk thread titled "Ebay Morr F.......all Fake" argued every eBay listing showed the fake box, with clear liquid where the genuine is yellowish; a 2020 reply said one seller's later batches "smell like straight alcohol and are clear".
  • Grey-market online pharmacies. A 2026 r/tressless post reported fake Morr F from a well-known site: clear solution, wrong box, replica security tags.
  • An Indian online pharmacy plus a parcel forwarder. Described by a European user in 2025. A real pharmacy's bottle, but the forwarder is shipping a prescription drug across a border for you.
  • A trip to India, or family bringing it. What most Indians abroad do; the only route where you see the shelf.

Quoted shipping times run two to six weeks. Customs reports are mixed: EU users describe seized parcels, an Australian says Indian finasteride gets through, and no clear account of a Morr F parcel stopped entering the US. Users who have handled both say the genuine article is a bit greasy and slightly yellow; water-clear and smelling of neat alcohol means you bought something else.

The legal position in the US, UK, Canada and Australia

I am not a lawyer.

United States. The FDA's personal importation page says: "In most circumstances, it is illegal for individuals to import drugs or devices into the U.S. for personal use." Discretion exists for a three-month supply of a drug for a serious condition with no effective US treatment. Hair loss is not that, and in April 2025 the FDA said there is no approved topical finasteride in any form. A parcel can be detained at an international mail facility. People order it anyway; that is their call, not mine.

United Kingdom. Finasteride is prescription-only and no topical finasteride is licensed. The MHRA's position, quoted in several places but not on a live gov.uk page I could find, is that the public need not notify it to import medicine for personal use, up to a three-month supply is acceptable, and HMRC can stop larger amounts. Easier on the buyer than the US, but an unlicensed product can still be seized.

Canada. Health Canada's guidance (GUI-0116, updated July 2026) says residents are generally not allowed to bring prescription drugs into Canada; the exceptions cover drugs you carry back yourself, capped at 90 days. Mail order is outside that.

Australia. The TGA's Personal Importation Scheme allows a three-month supply per order and 15 months a year, but for a prescription-only medicine, which finasteride is, you need a valid Australian prescription at import.

What six years on Morr F looks like

I started on 30 November 2019 with Morr F 5% at 1 ml twice a day plus oral finasteride 1 mg; here is the day 1 post. The pill gave me libido side effects, so on day 54 I cut it to 0.25 mg, written up here. At one year I posted photos and reckoned about 70% of the lost hair was back. In 2022 I stopped the finasteride tablets and kept the Morr F until mid 2026, when I moved to a plain minoxidil solution. In October 2026 I am still on it, same dose. From the topical, early itching and some dandruff, nothing else. One person, no control group.

The catches

  • Legal grey area. A US parcel can be detained; Canada does not allow mail import. You can lose the money and the bottle.
  • No pharmacist, no doctor. A marketplace seller does not check whether you are pregnant, on other medication, or 17.
  • Finasteride exposure and side effects. Topical lowers systemic exposure, it does not remove it. The FDA's 2025 reports include sexual, mood and cognitive effects that persisted after stopping. A liquid transfers to a partner more easily than a coated pill; finasteride can harm a male foetus.
  • Counterfeits from random sellers. Reported on eBay and grey-market sites since 2019; a fake may be anything.
  • No refunds. If customs holds it, it leaks, or it is fake, the seller is in another jurisdiction and the platform will shrug.

FAQ

Is Morr F FDA approved?

No. India's CDSCO approved it for sale in India. The FDA has approved no topical finasteride product, branded, generic or compounded, and said so in April 2025. Minoxidil 5% alone is FDA approved over the counter.

Can I buy Morr F in the USA or UK?

Not from a pharmacy; it is unlicensed in both. People import it from India through marketplace sellers, grey-market sites or forwarders. In the US that is illegal in most circumstances by the FDA's own wording; in the UK a three-month personal supply is tolerated but can still be seized.

Does Morr F have finasteride in it?

Yes, 0.1% w/v, or 1 mg per ml. Plain Morr without the F is minoxidil only. If you already take oral finasteride, Morr F stacks more on top; raise it with whoever prescribed the pill.

Is Morr F the same as Rogaine?

No. Rogaine (Regaine in the UK) is minoxidil only, made by Kenvue, approved by the FDA and MHRA. Morr F is minoxidil plus finasteride in a greasier lipid solution from an Indian maker. The minoxidil does the same job; the finasteride is the difference, for better and worse.
